November 5 (3:30 PM): CV Roast Session

Are you looking for internships or a full-time position job? Have you ever been stuck editing your CV for days because you're just not quite sure what recruiters are looking for? Want honest, constructive feedback on your CV?
 
We've got you covered. In preparation for our career fair, CodeJam has partnered up with ECC to offer our very own CV building workshop! You'll hear from seasoned career advisors about the best ways to format your resume to make your experiences really stand out! We'll be taking past CVs from real students and giving them a good old-fashioned roasting to show you how they could be improved!
 
Want anonymous feedback on your CV? Send us your resume at codejam@mcgilleus.ca with the subject "CV roast session" and we'll make sure you get it. We'll even redact your resume for you!
 
This event is open to everybody, whether you will be attending CodeJam or not. So invite your friends and get your CV interview-ready!

Are you looking for a team for Code.Jam(2020)? Look no further! Social.Jam() is your chance to meet other solo participants, exchange ideas, and build a team! What is it? Great question. Have you heard of speed networking before? Well this is speed team building. We'll put you small groups and let you get acquainted for short periods of time before shuffling the groups and starting all over again.

Our Techfair is a great opportunity to connect with Code.Jam(2020) sponsors and other company representatives and learn more about their internship programs and open roles. Join us on Gather to virtually walk around our Techfair, but make sure your CV is ready and that you're dressed to impresss!

6:00 PM- 7:00 PM: Opening Ceremonies on Youtube

Opening Ceremonies are mandatory ( either live or recorded) for all Code.Jam(2020) participants. The theme and various challenges, prizes, rules and guidelines will be explained in more detail. We will also hear from our guest speakers.

7:30-8:30 PM: Workshop by Samasource

Workshop: Machine Learning and Object Segmentation
presented by Samasource

Samasource presents their platform for labelling images, videos and Lidear datasets for computer vision applications. Learn about the different types of annotations ( bounding boxes, keypoints, cuboids, etc.), along with some examples of how these annotated datasets are used to create smarter applications in the real world and how we can yse Machine Learning and Object Segmentation in the contact of data labelling

8:30- 10:00 PM: Beginner Workshop by Code.Jam() Team, and another Workshop by Matrox

Learn how to use React to create an impressive, beginner-friendly portfolio website. Attendees will have th option to submit their portfolio website project to a special prize category.

11:00 AM - 12 :00 PM: Samasource Q&A Panel

Samasource Q&A Panel

This Q&A panel features different engineers and developers from Samasource who will talk about their backgrounds and what they are working on. They will take questions from participants about Samasource and the technologies they work on.

1: 00 PM - 3:00 PM: Brain Dates

Brain Dates

Brain dates are 15 minutes, 1-on-1 session with company reps and mentors to network, ask questions or for advice, and generally get to know them and their company. There will be a sign-up sheet posted in the Brain Dates text channel on Discord, which will close at 12h00 on Saturday. Then any brain dates that were scheduled will occur in different voice channels in the Brain Sates section on Discord

3:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Workshop by echoAR

Workshop: How to Build a Cloud-Connected AR/VR App in 15 minutes or Less
presented by echoAR

Learn how to quickly create augmented and virtual reality ( AR/VR) apps with no technical or coding skills required amd scale existing apps by connecting them to the cloud. Learn how to create real-time cloud-connected AR/VR apps using the echoAR platform. Discover how AR/VR are changing the world throuh the demonstration of different use cases of 3D applications and live demos of AR/VR experiences. Please bring a laptop and a smartphone.

6:00 PM - 9:00 PM: Game Night by Code.Jam() and MLH

Game Night

On Saturday night, we will be hosting Game Night via Discord. This will be an opportunity to meet other participants and have some fun during the intensity of the hackathon. Details of the specific challenges can be found in the Game Night text channel on Discord

12:00 PM-1:00 PM: Project Submission Deadline

All projects must be submitted by 1:00 PM, Montreal local time on Devpost!

1:30 PM- 4: 00 PM: Live Judging on Gather Town

Judging Process

Get ready to present your project to a delegation of judges. All presentations will take place on our GatherTown server!

4:45 PM- 5:30 PM: Closing Ceremonies on Youtube L

Closing Ceremony

During the closing ceremonies, we will hear from our sponsors again. They will annouce the winners of their respective challenges. Then, the CodeJam commitee will announce the winners of their categories and the overall winners ( 1st, 2nd & 3rd)
